Two local churches are situated right on the main highway through Lake City, both established the same year, 1876, at the height of the mining boom in the San Juan Mts. Both churches are quite small. I've not been in the Episcopal Church, but it has a very small footprint, small enough to look more like a chapel.

I hope to go inside to see more of the character of this little church, it looks intriguing and I'm certain it has some interesting features, a must do on my part.
Sign says "oldest Protestant church on western slope," which means the Presbyterians must have edged out the Episcopalians in 1876. I have been in this church a number of times, as the community chorus practices there.
